What are Lumpkin County Public Records?

In accordance with the Georgia Open Records Act, Lumpkin County public records comprise all types of documents generated or received by government agencies in the discharge of their public duties. These records consist of various documents held by custodians such as the County Clerk, Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), and the Vital Records Office.

Lumpkin County public records also include data stored by private individuals and organizations on behalf of the government. The act states that these records may be papers, letters, maps, photographs, and other materials containing information maintained by a public agency. However, Georgia law specifies that records containing confidential information are not open to public disclosure. Examples include insurance and medical records, social security numbers, credit card details, and some information on juvenile offenders.

In addition to government agencies, Lumpkin County public records may also be obtained from third-party websites. These non-government platforms come with intuitive tools that allow for expansive searches. Record seekers may either opt to use these tools to search for a specific record or multiple records. Users are able to search third-party websites remotely for multiple records at a time with just the name of the record subject and their last known location, including the city, county, or state. Third-party sites are not sponsored by government agencies. Because of this, record availability and results may vary.
