The Georgia Bureau of Investigation, through Georgia’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, compiles the statistics of crimes on behalf of all counties and cities in Georgia. In 2017, there was a total number of 994 crimes reported in Effingham County. This number comprises 73 violent crimes and 921 property crimes. Violent crimes include 5 rapes, 9 robberies, and 59 aggravated assaults. There was no reported incident of murder. On the other hand, property crimes reported include 275 burglaries, 589 larcenies, and 57 motor vehicle thefts.

The 2017 crime figures represent a significant increase in total crimes reported in Effingham County over a 5-year period.
