Where to Find a DeKalb County Inmate Locator

Residents in DeKalb County have multiple options for finding inmates, depending on the custodian agency. The Dekalb County Sheriff's Office provides an inmate lookup tool for locating persons housed in correctional facilities. Queries can be done using an inmate's full or partial name. The search results can be filtered to reveal inmates booked within the last day, week, month, or year. Results can also be filtered to reveal release dates. In addition to the inmate's location, the lookup tool also provides the name of the arresting agency and the status of any fines, costs, or warrants.

Residents can also search for offenders serving in Georgia State Prison, the only state correctional facility in DeKalb County as of 2023. Similarly to the county government, the Georgia Department of Corrections provides public access to inmate information via an online search tool. Inmates can be searched using a known name, ID, or case number. Searches can also be filtered using the inmate's name or any other identifying information.

Inmate records may also be accessible using third-party inmate locators. These non-government platforms come with search options that allow for expansive searches. Record seekers must provide enough information for the search, such as the offender's first and last name or a booking number. Most platforms may also require that requesters pay a nominal fee for a search.
